Diabetic Foot Care

Diabetes, which causes individuals to be unable to convert sugars into energy, dramatically decreases the body’s circulation. As a result, diabetics may often complain that their extremities, including their hands and feet, are cold. But this decreased circulation also affects the body’s ability to heal itself. Consequently, injuries to the foot that may seem trivial to the average person may be quite serious for the diabetic patient.

As a result, diabetics require consistent foot care, both to address current injuries, and to prevent future ones. On their own, they can prevent complications from arising by washing and inspecting their feet daily, wearing plush socks, and by visiting their podiatrist regularly.
